Designed by Verner Panton in 1969 for the Der Spiegel Publishing House in Hamburg, the Spiegel Lamp blurs the line between light and sculpture. A bold square aluminium form is punctuated by a deeply recessed circular dish, at the centre of which is a polished shade that conceals the light source. The result is an interplay of light and shadow, radiating a warm, glare-free halo that appears to float across the surface.
