The challenge was set to reduce the component count, to simplify materials and to reduce construction costs. The Hillestak appeared simple and unified, though employed over twenty separate components. The Q-Stak reduced this to seven; the seat, the two-part leg and two pairs of nuts and bolts.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe one-piece moulded plywood seat and back respected the early science of ergonomics with a profile to ‘give maximum comfort and freedom from fatigue.’\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe design reflects an understanding for the need to provide lumbar support.
