The shape of the seat is a development of a steel-rod chair from 1953 that was not produced. The evocative shape is covered in an envelope of leather, whose pattern-making is a significant design accomplishment. The design for a minimal, sweeping, three-legged base is both individual and quietly expressive, giving the chair a visually light appearance.
