MK Bookcase System

MK Bookcase System by Mogens Koch for Fredericia.

Originally conceived in 1928 by architect Mogens Koch for his own home, the MK Bookcase System is an enduring icon of Danish functionalist design. Created to accommodate books of varying heights, the modular collection was continuously refined until 1962, evolving over more than three decades to offer exceptional flexibility while adapting effortlessly to changing homes, workplaces and ways of living.

The individual bookcase modules form the foundation of the system, allowing configurations to grow and evolve over time. Available in two depths, each unit can be wall-mounted or paired with a floor plinth, offering complete freedom to create anything from a single bookcase to a full wall of storage. Handcrafted from solid oak with carefully considered proportions that maximise storage while minimising material use, every module reflects Koch's uncompromising approach to function and craftsmanship. Nearly a century after its introduction, the MK Bookcase System remains an enduring expression of thoughtful, adaptable design.
